The most glamorous night of the fashion calendar took place on September 13. With a backlog of a year, there was excitement to see the fabulous dresses. The gala is a fundraiser hosted by the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. It is like the opening night for the annual fashion exhibit by the fashion department of the museum. The gala is usually hosted on the first Monday of May. Due to the pandemic, there was no Met Gala last year and it was postponed until September 2021.

The Met Gala always has a theme that is the same as that of the exhibit. This year the theme was American Independence. The theme showed various perceptions of how fashion helps in the reflection of identity, culture, and its growth. The attendees include Timothe Chalamet, Billie Eilish, Amanda Gorman; sports personalities like Naomi Osaka, and many more. Rihanna hosted the after-party and fashionably late appliance on the red carpet. Here are a few of the best dresses on the red carpet of the Met Gala. 

Jennifer Lopez in Ralph Lauren

JLo made everyone’s jaw drop with her custom-made Ralph Lauren dress. It had a plunging neckline. The dress had amazing embroidery, giving it a three-dimensional effect. The gown had a faux fur cape with delicate crystal beadwork. The completely handmade cape is up to 200 hours. Whereas the gown took 15 artisans in 12 days. The look was completed with DSW shoes and a beautiful hairstyle by Lorenzo Martine. Her look took Jennifer to the Top of Met Gala red carpet looks. 

Megan Fox wearing Dundas

Fox took the red carpet on fire with her crystal-studded, long sleeves, red gown. Designed by Dundas, it had a plunging V-neckline. It had crisscross straps on her chest as well as cutouts on the sides. The design floor-length skirt with a train. It also had a slit that revealed her satin shoes and a backless top showing her tattoos. The daring look was completed with red lipstick, red jewel ring, and earrings. Her hairstyle was a long braid that came up to her hips and bangs. Making it a killer Met Gala look. 

Rihanna wearing Balenciaga

Rihanna ended the Met Gala 2021 red carpet in style. Her look consisted of a beautiful Balenciaga overcoat and matching hat. The black ruffled dress and its voluminous nature showed the chic perspective of American style. Her swagger only added to the beauty. Rihanna’s outfit for this gala was different from her previous style. 

Kim Kardashian wearing Balenciaga 

Kim Kardashian took the world by surprise. Her dress was head to toe, black Balenciaga gown. There was an opaque black headcover that had an opening at top for her ponytail. The design had a trail of fabric. The costume looks anonymous. Kim has been seen in similar outfits for a couple of weeks. For the red carpet, she came with Demna Gvasalia, Balenciaga executive creative director, in a full black look. 

Lorde wearing Bode 

The Royals’ singer made her royal appearance at Met Gala 2021 with an amazing headpiece. Bode, a clothing brand that makes handcrafted dresses, designed Lorde’s dress. Her look includes a white jacket with colorful beads and a matching dress with a train. But the main centerpiece of her dress is the headpiece. In an interview during the event, she said that she worked with Bode to create her custom outfit. 

Kendall Jenner in Givenchy 

The supermodel wore a crystal-studded Givenchy Haute Couture gown over a bodysuit. The gown went well with a high-neck sparkling choker and a retro hairstyle. Audrey Hepburn’s My Fair Lady ball gown inspired the look by the same brand. 

Billie Eilish in Oscar de la Renta

Billie Eilish did something different from her familiar goth style. The Oscar de la Renta ball gown at the Met Gala is not a common thing. Billie carried the blush color gown with grace. It was a tribute to Marilyn Monroe, Grace Kelly, and the Holiday Barbie Doll. 

The Bling Concludes

The Met Gala 2021 red carpet showcased started at 5:30. With amazing dresses inspired by fashion icons or quotes printed on dresses and handbags. The gala was all glamour with various gowns studded with crystals. The internet appreciated many gowns while trolled the others. Met Gala is a fashion night out. For instance, it is all the glitz and glamour, present in one place. This year, they divided the annual fashion exhibit into two parts. The first part started with the Met Gala red carpet. In other words, This year started with a bang. The red carpet started with gorgeous dresses by various celebrities and concluded with Rihanna fashionably blazing the red carpet with her Balenciaga overcoat and swaggy attitude.
