Pregnancy Photoshoots
The newfound sweetest trends that have taken over the world by the to-be moms at large are the pregnancy photoshoots. Yes, it is nothing new even though the concept makes a few percent of the people cringe at the fact that the to be mother’s want to capture their magical journey on film and share their transformations as a little life grows inside of them, it truly is an amazing concept, which much like pre-wedding photoshoots has become a trend that is only catching up.
Mothers want to document their beautiful journey and sometime in the future show their kids how they came into the world. Becoming a mother is not just a phase of immense physical transformation, not just involving the evolving process of two bodies, it is the journey of transcending from being a woman to becoming a mother, involves the mind-body and soul of both the child and the Mom. It is a great idea and people are coming up with innovative ideas as to how to make the experience even more amazing. Giving you something you will cherish for a lifetime.
The idea is to document all the big and small changes that the mother-to-be I going through, it is an emotional as well as whimsical journey one that you can now capture on film for you to go back and look at.
The hubbub:
As we all know this is not a new phenomenon or a trend that has recently picked up speed but like every other trend pregnancy shoots got that razzle-dazzle because our beloved celebrity Moms decided to literally break the internet with awe-inspiring photos of their adorable baby bumps. Beyoncé posted the most ultimate series of pictures from her shoot when the Queen was pregnant with twins. Not only did the news take the world by storm but the pictures were no less than masterpieces. Queen Bey is not one to do “the regular” stuff. We can see her exuding elegance even underwater, the shots are so picturesque that you can definitely imagine them painted as frescos in some high-end art gallery.
It is not the first time the celebrities have shared their pregnancy shoot pictures. Demi Moore graced the cover of the Vanity Fair’s August issue back in 1991. So you see it’s not that much of a next-gen idea, rather it is going on the verge of becoming more of a tradition and not something that is unheard of. This cover sparked a lot of controversies because back in the ’90s definitely this was one of a kind. Models posing nude was one thing but with a baby bump was a little too much too soon for the public to digest.
Singer and songwriter Pink shared with the world pictures of her and her daughter are adorable beyond comparison. Or be it Serena William’s Vanity Fair photoshoot and this time it was not at the court but was definitely “Grand” for sure.
So now it’s pretty much clear why we have the pregnancy photoshoots in line to get a traditional status. Here are some things that you should keep in mind while going for one.
Timing is everything! :
The most pragmatic approach to deciding as to when you want to get your shoot done depends upon considering the comfort of the mother and also picking a time when the baby bump is visible. The ideal time to schedule a pregnancy photoshoot is generally sometime between weeks 28 and 32 because this is the time when the baby is comparatively stable, and it is easier for the mother to move around more freely.
Consult your doctor:
This is more of a precautionary measure just to be sure that everything is fine with the Mom and the baby. Your doctor will be able to advise the best possible time frame when you can go ahead and get your shoot done. Some of the moms are concerned whether it is okay to expose the baby to artificial lights or bright flashes or whether going sporty and doing underwater shoots will in any way be dangerous for the baby. Voice all your concerns with the doctor and take a go-ahead from them just so that you are at peace with what you are doing.
Pick a theme:
This is more of a personal choice as to how creative you want to get with the shoot. Consult the photographer, there is a whole new genre of pregnancy photoshoots and the ideas are unlimited. Be it a Disney-inspired theme or something from you and your partner’s favorite TV series. You want a Simpson’s pregnancy shoot or a more rustic Vikings vibe is all left to your whim. But working with a theme in mind can help create some very aesthetic shots. You can even work on your post-pregnancy shoots with the theme, continue it or choose another is all up to you.
All about the Mom?
The newborn will be a beloved member of the entire family, the little one will rather complete the family so why should you leave out the family from the photoshoot? Go ahead involve the father of your kids in the shoot. They will only add to the picture you have variety and the pictures show how important the little one is to each and every member. As is clear include your elder kids as well, they would be so thrilled to welcome their siblings and how else will they tell stories to the kids what all they did before the little ones came into the world.
Choose a fluffy partner:
Can a family be complete without your furry little babies? Yes include your pets in the photoshoot, the animals can be a little hard to manage but you can only imagine how perfect the picture will be with your fluffy companions.
Location:
Whether you want an intimate shoot indoors, that would be within your own home, or pick a nice country backdrop. There are a number of options to choose from. You want to do it in the backyard or in a park or in the middle of the wilderness or the sultry beaches. You make your pick, discuss with your photographer so he knows what you are expecting out of the pictures so you get the best out of it.
Go crazy:
Of course, we mean with the ideas. Whether you decide to get your belly painted or doing an underwater shoot or experimenting with silhouettes and or going for shadow photography as we mentioned before, there are a whole lot of creative options to pick from and a whole lot of new things that you can do. Use props or use the golden hour. Do a shoot with the waves caressing your belly as the sun sets right before you. Take a milk bath (that is a favorite of most moms to be).
This is an ode to the journey of transformation and we want you to make it as intimate and as personal as you wish. Because this time would not come back and capturing these cherished moments is something you and your baby deserve.
