The Magic of Korean Skincare

The-Magic-of-Korean-Skincare

If we were to go back ten years ago, no one from the time would believe that a small country like South Korea would be taking over the world. But here we are, in the year 2021, where Korean culture influences every aspect of our lives. The world now looks towards South Korea for tasty food and their dose of entertainment. The world of beauty is no exception. Korean beauty, often referred to as K-beauty, has created a storm among beauty and skin enthusiasts. In addition, Korean make-up and skincare products have had a tremendous impact, and everyone is now in line to try some of their skincare products.

Specialization in Skincare

Koreans have a different take on skincare than the West. The western part of the world believes in using make-up products to conceal skin conditions like marks, pimples, or blemishes. Therefore, they concentrate more on buying make-up products like foundation, contour, blush, etc. On the other hand, Koreans believe in keeping their skin glowing naturally before anything else. Of course, Koreans do apply make-up. In fact, Korean beauty products are rising in popularity all over the world. But they also believe in not damaging their natural skin texture. Koreans have this idea culturally engrained in them. Therefore, most Koreans follow a skincare routine that has become one of the most popular skincare routines globally.

The famous 10-Step Korean Skincare Routine

The Korean Skincare routine ranges from having five to twelve steps. However, the most common and popular routine has ten steps. Nevertheless, the basic idea in each practice among all remains the same.

Step 1-Oil-based cleanser

Using an oil-based cleanser removes impurities better than a water-based one. In addition, it can remove the toughest of the debris on the skin.

Step 2- Water-based cleanser

Now that the oil -cleanser has removed harsh impurities, using the traditional water-based cleanser is next. This cleanser will now remove the remaining dirt on the skin, such as sweat.

Step 3- Exfoliant

The exfoliant will remove dead skin cells, improving the texture of the skin. However, use exfoliants only once or twice a week.

Step 4-Toner

Applying a toner helps maintain the pH levels of your skin (the pH level of the skin should generally remain acidic.)

Step 5- Essence

Using essence is one of the core components of the Korean skincare routine. Applying essence helps in hydrating skin, leaving a smooth and silky texture.

Step 6- Serum

People generally use serums for specific problems like removing wrinkles. They use heavy ingredients and are a higher version of an essence.

Step 7- Sheet Mask

Sheet masks have become a popular skincare product, thanks to Korea. The sheet masks can be applied for 20 minutes and removed. Sheet masks leave the skin feeling fresh and hydrated.

Step 8-Eye Cream

Eye creams are specifically designed for sensitive skin around the eyes. Applying eye cream helps in reducing dark circles and puffiness.

Step 9-Moisturizer

In the penultimate step, applying the moisturizer makes sure that the skin has absorbed all of the previous products.

Step 10- SPF

The last step is ensuring that SPF protects the skin from harmful UA/UV rays.

By following these steps regularly, many have said that they have seen positive results. What can also be achieved is what Koreans call “glassy skin”- an experience where the skin is smooth and glossy, leaving your skin feeling fresh and hydrated.

Specific ingredients that make Korean skincare special

What makes Korean skincare unique? The ingredients do. Korean skincare products use snail mucin, bee venom, propolis, ginseng, and hyaluronic acid. These ingredients are never found in most western beauty products. However, these ingredients have their benefits that make Korean skincare products stand out.

Korean Skincare redefining beauty

Korean Skincare is changing the game in the world of beauty. As more people look forward to innovations and new products, Korean skincare products lead the beauty industry. In addition, the Korean Skincare brands are constantly working towards attaining sustainable and affordable skincare products. With brands like Innisfree and Aromatica growing in popularity, Korean skincare products are enjoying a boost in sales across the globe. In the upcoming years, the K-beauty industry’s economy estimates to be 14 billion dollars. These numbers show that the industry is growing exponentially, and it will continue to grow even further.
