Things To Do In This Red Cross Month

The world has seen numerous natural disasters. These calamities have taken the lives of an uncountable number of innocent citizens. Natural calamity never comes with an invitation. Hence we should try to find ways to prevent these disasters. If we cannot prevent them, then the least we can do is to help those who were the victims of these calamities.  

What is Red Cross Month?

The red cross is a non-profitable organization that works endlessly to save the lives of others. They help people who are the victims of war or have lost their entire families during crises. The foundation of this organization was laid down by Clara Barton on May 21, 1881. And from 1943 it is celebrated as an annual tradition when the first red cross month proclamation was issued by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Since then the month of March is celebrated as “Red Cross Month.”  

And because of the red cross, the U.S initiated the launch of its first civilian blood program in the 1940s. Since then they have saved the lives of many people by providing blood whenever needed. This organization is made up of many selfless volunteers who work day and night to protect the lives of civilians.   

Things to be done in this red cross month

This March, people who selflessly served the communities when required will be honored. They helped in easing the pain of victims. They worked hard without advancing anything from it. There are volunteers across the world that are helping needy people. Besides honoring these people there are other activities too that are planned for March. 

Blood drives will be organized

Our body cannot function without the production of blood in our body. And also not everyone has the same blood group nor not every blood can be transported in anybody. Arranging blood at the last moment can be chaotic for a person. Therefore, these blood drives help in supplying blood when in need. Anybody can go to these blood drives and can donate a few units of their blood. This blood further can save the lives of many people. 

Parade Participation

Volunteers will parade to show solidarity in saving lives. Anyone can join these people who want to work selflessly for the community 

Volunteer open houses

These types of work cannot be done alone. There should be a group of people with similar interests. Then only organizations like these will be successful. Volunteers are the backbone of such organizations. And for that, we need people who are not forced to do anything but are coming themselves to help the sufferers. There is a strong need for volunteers.

Lightning of buildings in RED

March 23 will be seen as the annual red cross giving day campaign. On this day, the famous buildings and landmarks of the U.S. will be lit red to show their support for the red cross. This will be a sign of how people are together in this. Iconic buildings will be of the same color this month.  

Virtual talks

On March 3, organized a meeting virtually where many volunteers, donors, and community partners will come together to share stories. These stories will be red cross stories and can inspire many people outside who are listening to them. 

True Inspiration

In today’s time, no one comes for help without their benefits. Bu the people belonging to the community of red cross doing their bit selflessly. They are working for ages and have helped millions of families. Their humanitarian work has won the heart of many people. Apart from helping people, they even provide workshops. These workshops are based on how and what a person can do when stuck in a difficult situation. Hence, for people like these many months like March should be celebrated.
